BELEP

The Basic Education and Literacy Enhancement Program (BELEP) is one of the seven areas of focus for Rotary International aimed to improve education and literacy levels worldwide through various initiatives and projects as a fundamental building block for a better future for individuals and communities.

Objectives and Focus Areas include;

  • Access to Education to increase access to quality education, especially for marginalized and underserved populations with initiatives to provide educational materials and support infrastructure development in communities lacking educational resources.
  • Teacher Training and Development to enhance the quality of education through supporting teacher training programs, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
  • Literacy Enhancement by supporting literacy among children and adults through supporting reading programs, libraries, and adult literacy classes.
  • Community Engagement in the planning and implementation of BELEP projects to ensure relevance and sustainability. This collaborative approach fosters community ownership and commitment to educational improvements.
  • Global Partnerships with governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), educational institutions, and other stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise for effective education and literacy initiatives.

In 2023, RC Mukono handed over 700 books to Kirowoza Church of Uganda Primary School and promised to work hand in hand to establish a communal library for both students of the school and the rest of the community to benefit from.

We also handed over various scholastic materials to candidate students of Kikakanya Church of Uganda Primary School like books, mathematical sets, and others

We can do more with your support monetarily or otherwise. If you have books, scholastic materials, and any other support, we welcome you to this community of service
